My Cupcake Business

I've been thinking a lot, about taking my cupcakes baking to the next level ... Been calculating the cost to run, & machinery needed to expand it into business lately ... Since I'm high maintenance, so my cupcakes pun agak high cost with expensive ingredient & quality equipment ...
It would mean a lot if I got a loan granted, but from my calculation - 10k is not enough to start the business plan I got in my mind ... The oven will simply cost around 3k, & a good mixer surely cost around that as well ... With the demand I got so far, I can't get back all the investment in 6months ... It probably took a couple years for me to do so, & I need to put all my effort in promotion ... Which I can't since I still have my job ...
So, taking things one step back ... I'm not ready to jump in with my both legs ... & as my normal off day routine 'bermalas2an on my cheap sofa' ended for today, I came up with this brilliant idea - sponsor my close friends'/cousins' wedding cake ...
It's such a waste, that I've been attending a lot of weddings since last year ... & haven't got a chance to promote my cupcakes, since I kept my plans in the big picture ... While actually I should start things slowly ... & I can't be a full-time baker with my day time job restriction ...
It's a competitive business I know, a lot have established in home baking business ... All I need is an exposure, & I need to start it slowly instead of dreaming of a grand breaking entrance ...
I can't just open a cupcakes shop, it will cost me huge number ... & there's not guarantee I can sustain it ... The shop lot will cost me thousands to rent, the machinery ... Workers, & the ingredient ... I can't even run the business for a month with 10k ... & not to forgot, my restricted time to manage + bake ... That exclude of training if I'm about to hire workers ...
Baking, will definitely left me sleepless ... My mum have already rejected the idea of me doing a cupcake business, her point - "Do you wanna end up like those girls in DC Cupcakes ?? Sleeping under the table" ?? It's freakingly true actually ... I've been thru it, sleepless thru the baking process ... 1st when I was baking for my best friend Anis's bridal shower gifts, & recently was Abang Zaid's birthday cake ... I only manage to sleep at 4am in the morning, when I have to be at work at 8am ...
Special projects like wedding cakes, is the most suitable for me right now ... Since I won't be doing it on daily basis, & I'll pass out my contacts from there ... All I need is more effort in baking, business cards + ideas for decorations ... Owh, & some cost for transportation ...
I'll be sponsoring some of my close relatives/friends wedding very soon ... 1st up, my cousin Alia's wedding on early December ... Since her reception is in a golf club, I'm trying to get her permission to do it for her solemnization ... Then I'm going to try to get in Kashfi's wedding in January, heheh ... Ok, now there's more weddings lined up in my mind ...
All these while, I was waiting for my brother's engagement for my breaking entrance ... I should have been doing this a while ago ... But I guess it's better than never kan ??

My Jr. High School Best Friend's Wedding

Panjang nyer title post kau noxxx ... Gedik lebey kan, since t'kene badi wedding planner melatah/menyumpah depan aku smalam ... ;p ... Dalam kemalasan & mood berehat2 hujung minggu xhabes lagi, t'pakse update jugak ... Supaye cerita tak basi, heh ... Alasan2 ...

The Wedding Planner ...

It's a really beautiful wedding, worth to share it here ... With a lot of details that I loved ... I don't even know where to start ?? Heheh, ok ... Budget skema jap, lets go down the history ... ;p

I drove 90minutes to reach Sagil, Tangkak ... Sampai2 Tangkak, all the memories burst in ... I spent my junior high school here ... Lalu my school SMK Tun Mamat yg dah brape kali renovate tu ... The whole canteen is air-conditioned tau ?? Hahah, I don't even know if it's still the canteen ...

This is how I met my best friend Fiza ... We went to school together, sit next to each other ... Sebab aku asyik mengamuk sitting at the most front + left of the class ... Sebab silau + panas = aku tido all the time at that spot ... So with her, we sat at the most back + right of the class ... Dekat dgn pintu, full of distractions ...  Asal org pass by jek, confirm aku usha ... Hehehehheheh ...

That was form 2 ... If I'm not mistaken, during form 3 we still seat next to each other jugak ... But for sure, aku suke2 transform myself from budak hostel & MENETAP kat rumah Fiza ... Heheh ... The thing I missed the most ?? Naik bas pukul 6stengah pagi from Sagil, reached school before the sun rise ... :D ... Owh, & the sambal tempe + kicap yg sgt sedap ... Sampai skarang I can't figure out, how the tempe are still crispy even with the sambal kicap ...

Ok, too much of it oredy ... Upon my arrival, they're reading the taklik ... I think it's only practiced in Melaka & Johor ... Where the bride, will have to read a few lines to the mum ... Mintak halal kan makan minum, & ampun kan segale kekurangan sepanjang tempoh tanggungjawap itu terletak di atas bahu ibunda ... Sumpah syahdu, memang xsanggup nak dgr (kalau aku la) ...

The solemnization habis around 11am, then the guest bole makan ... Yay (untuk aku yg kebulur xbreakfast dr Bangi), hahah ... After the short break, she went for short photograph session before she changed into her sanding outfit ...

Makan2, my 1st round right after nikah ...

I really love her wedding flow ... By the time the groom arrived, the have some silat & zapin performance ... Then dorang terus went for makan beradap, lepas makan potong kek ... Then baru tepung tawar ... Sounds awkward kan ?? But it was just fine, sebab - org xlapar tunggu pengantin lame2 ... Lepas tepung tawar, everybody was happy to leave without missing a thing ...

I love it the moment I walked in, it's just like a warm wedding festival ... The VIP section under a huge tent on the left, & the buffet section on the right ... Pelamin utk sanding, cake cutting & meja beradap ... Sumer under that huge tent ... Siap ade platform ok ?? Exactly what I wish for my wedding (kalau aku ade laman rumah sebesar itu, ;p) ...

This is the thing I've been rambling about - lurve 18juta x ...

The buffet section was serve mcm biase la, but families & close friends are free to eat at the VIP tables since they will top up the food & change the plates ... That how I manage to ate twice, ;p ... Hahah ... They only set up the tables utk family belah lelaki by noon, so xde kecoh2 nak sound2 org xbagi duduk sane ... Cool wehhh !!! Heheh ...

Food

Sgt sedap, as I said - I ate twice !!! Heh ... Fried boneless chicken was a bit dry, but dalca kambing was the best ... There's kurma daging, & rojak jambu ... + fried so'un with tempe + kentang ... Hahah, of course I always love the food there ... Keeps the old memories alive ...

Make - Up - Sentuhan Aziecun

The same make-up artist for both solemnization & reception ... Make-up mase nikah was just nice, mase sanding baru she add up another layer of eye lashes & the layer on the bottom ... She just do some touch up by 12pm, by 2pm both bride & groom are ready ... She worked professionally in time, & she's damn cool & friendly ... Her touch are fabulous, dr pagi sampai ptg it stays fresh ...

She just did some touch up for the reception ... Change the eye shadow's shade, & tambah eye lashes ... I only have pictures during solemnization, by noon my phone dah mati ... Gambar reception satu pun tade, ;( ...

With pengapits, hahah ... Pengapit mase nikah yg baju hitam, yg baju putih tu pengapit jugak ... Changed to her purple baju kurung during reception, sebab best man pegi pakai baju hitam mase nikah ... Better version of me, cehhh ...

Door gifts yg mencurah2, non-stopped food serving ... Too bad I can't stay longer, sebab nak balik (padahal panas bontot sebab blackBerry xde battery, putus nyawe noxxx !!!) ... I left around 4pm, babe I really wish I can stay longer ... Kalau aku bawak charger, confirm aku melepak sampai mlm ... Sorry ...

& finally, be4 I end up my wedding reviews ... Aku akan wish korang happiness ... Hahah ... Fiza @ P-pop @ Peah ... Hahah, bape bnyk la name kau ... Wedding Dress Designer - Hazwani Osman

So I was stalking Alia's wedding photos on fb tadi, pastu terbukak (cehhh, terbukak la sgt) album 5stars Designer by Kabir Malik ... From there, I was stuck on Hazwani Osman & start googling about him ... His wedding dresses, simply melt my heart ...

 Exact design I always adore, with lovely details ...

Definitely be one of the designers I put on my list for my wedding attire, walaupun tak tau entah bile aku nak kawen ... Heh ... But I just love it, because there's 3main things I would like to emphasis in my dream wedding dress - decent design, minimal but stand out details & modern touch yet appropriate for a Malay wedding ... Bare in mind yg aku ni seorang yg conservative, heh ...

Recently, I had this fight with my mum about wedding prep (since die suruh aku kawen dgn Muiz, & utk kesekian kali nye aku tak nak) ... Sebab once I said, "you can't put a finger in my wedding prep" ... I already forgot why I said that, but must be because of something ridiculous she's planning to do (like membuli bakal pengantin lelaki on mlm berinai) ... Or my current candidate yg not open to my mum's interest ...

But till now, my mum still kecik ati lagi ... Said xnak campur, fine ... But when I said, have to rent extra hour for the hall sebab nanti member2 skolah die nak lepak she's excited pulak kan ?? Heh, kejap jek tu merajuk ... Bawak gi Jakarta shopping, comfirm cair ... Heheh ...

But my wedding dress, will melt her for sure ... Because as much as we love to pick up a fight with each other, it's make me more like her actually ... There's one time, adik cherry found this picture of mum's wedding dress ... Then she excitedly called me, just to tell me - "Babe, aku jumpa gambar baju kawen mamak ... Kau mesti suka" ...

Sorry, picture taken with hp camera je ... Gambar lame + low quality = ntah pape ...

Sile maaf kan trend veil di zaman itu ... But how should I know that red obi inspired detail was existed since 28years ago huh ?? (menurut adik cherry that's the details, since I didn't see any hand bouquet & zaman tu ade ke hand bouquet gedik2 with 1meter red ribbon ??)

I can score well, in pleasing my mum with my wedding dress design ... Heh, sorry adik cherry ... When I mentioned about nicely lined butang bungkus, my mum get excited ... Overall, I bet she'll love it ...

Ok, merepek dah ... From Hazwani Osman, sampai my mum's wedding dress ... Heh, bf pun xde lagi ... Hahah, that will be the 1st thing in my 2012 wishlist for sure ... ;p

When You Need To Ring A Friend

I just don't understand, or is it me yang memang cold-hearted ?? I mean, perlu ke nak say 'hi' kat fb everyweek ?? When you're actually miles away ?? There's a few acceptance la, in staying in contact with your friends ... Being a good friend didn't necessary mean you have to kiss S every now & then, there's a thing we called 'privacy' ...

I Only Contact A Friend When ...

1. When I Need Help

Tak kesah la, thru facebook ke ... Sms ke, when you need help on things ... That you know your friends can score at it ... Mcm kau pegi Penang, nak carik Queens Bay Mall ... Masuk akal ke kalau kau call aku yg kerja kat Kerteh ni ??

Lets say -

Nik: Eh, aku lepas raye ni kene station kat Kerteh ...
Haku: Gimme a call then ...

Itu pun, Nik never called ... & to me, tu bukan sombong kot ?? Tu name nye 'mind your own business' ... Unless, memang nak suruh tolong carik kan rumah ke ... Really need help on transport arrangement, or something important ...

2. Bile Kau Kawen


When my bestfriend mase kat skolah kawen, this is when I asked for her phone number ... Sebab - senang nak call time nak dtg nanti ... Tu pun, sebab die dah post her invitation card kat fb ... Pandai2 la save to phone book  xpayah gedik nak sms ke say hi dah tau org tu bz nak kawen ...

3. Bile Nak Beli Rumah

This is when I called my lawyer friend, tanye pasal nak beli rumah ... Tu pun sebab nak beli rumah second hand, kalau stakat nak beli brand new house ... Letak duit booking jek, pastu settle ... Xpayah nak gedik2 text him all day, when you all ready know he's bz with work & stuff ...

4. Bile Aku Dah Bosan Giler, & Realistically Orang yg di Contact Bole Ajak Lepak

Lets say, aku kat Kerteh ... Bosan giler, pastu aku pegi msg Adam yg MENETAP di Ampang ... Masuk akal ke x ?? Mcm kau dah tau kau kat jb kan, gedix nak msg konon2 caring tanye dah makan ke belum ... Xkluar ke mlm ni, lempang mau ??

Aku memang camni, sometimes kalau ade bf tu ... Aku bole meroyan jap kalau die tanye dah makan ke belom (dgn intonasi yg menyakitkan hati of course) ... Bukan la xbole tanye langsung, tapi tengah hari dah tanye - "you xpegi makan ke" ?? Malam tanye lagi, "kenape belom makan lagi" ??

Cube relate soalan tu dengan sedikit statement yg intelligent kan ...

Contoh:

En. Bf: What you cook for dinner sayang ??
Haku: Hari ni I malas, stress tadi buat report sampai malam ... I makan kat kedai jek ...

Paham ?? Bukan bile aku ckp aku kat office lagi buat report kau get b!+c#y - "Eh, kenape you xbalik lagi ?? Dah mlm ni, bahaye la" !!! Sebab - 1. Xde hubung kait dgn kau pun, walaupun kau bf haku ... Tapi aku drive sendiri kot balik rumah, kecoh lebey ape hal ?? 2. My work is my work, unless kau bagi aku 10k 1bln then I'll shut up & stay home like a good wife ...

Ok, terlebih sudah my rage ni ... Dah towards expectations from a bf, heh ... But get my point x ?? We're not 17 ... Or still in college, nak exchange text every night ... We're independent individual now, who have to go to work in the morning ... & have limited time on our own personal life ...

Unless you're mutually connected, like you're heaven sent best buddies ... Went out to the gym together, or bowling partners ... That's a different story ... Even I didn't text my bestfriend Anis on weekly basis, but we're still best friends ... I only called Suraya when I'm in KL, & we're just cool that way ...

It just letih, nak layan couple years ago old friends ... Yg kept bugging kat fb chat, pastu kalau bz sket ... Trus kene tembak, "Owh, kau skarang dah sombong" ... Tak ke aku meroyan jap di situ ?? Pastu keep saying, "nanti kalau I pegi KL I call" ... Ade kau call ?? HARAM ...

If you wanna talk about how things going, wait for reunion ... Then from reunion, you'll get yourself tagged ... Pastu sementare panas, korang comment2 la kat sane ... & after a few while, you'll go your own sweet way jugak ... Only for those who put extra effort, then you'll stay in contact sebab he's/she's being nice ...

Post ini akan jadik bias, sebab abang aku yg handle operation of this hall ... Hehe, I won't elaborate more on the hall details ... As mostly sumer org dah tau it's very unique & beautiful ... Especially when you have a traditional theme wedding ... It's difficult to get the hall (ye ke ??), sebab always fully booked on convenient dates ...

So recently my bestfriend got married ere, sangat beautiful ... I just don't favor the right & left side of the hall, sebab the ceiling rendah ... Rase mcm u're in a conference room, but with a good photographer ... I bet you can capture all the moments beautifully ...

The rate is RM350 per hour, kalau my brother yg booking ade 50% discount ... So dear friends, contact me if you need my help ... I'll appeal the case to my brother, see whether he can help ... & jangan la nak pakai in 2weeks baru nak bagitau kan, reasonable la sikit ... Nak suruh move date org lain for you pun, it's a NO NO ... Standard procedure mcm nak booking other hall, just that we can give a hand tolong booking ...

So basically ... Yes, my brother is in-charge ... But bukan la abang aku yg duduk tunggu on/off air-cond & tutup the hall ... Abg aku just monitor his staff yg on duty that day ... Since wedding normally falls on holidays kan ... 

The table arrangement, rehearsals ... Nak pasang dais, nak setting buffet line ... Tu sumer bole discuss with my brother, pukul brape nak start pasang dais ... Or if you wanna come in for rehearsal ... For me, it's not a big problem ... But kene pandai tackle the staff on duty, bukan mengurat yeaaa ... Communication - Let them know properly pukul brape nak start, & approximately pukul brape bole settle ... Make sure you're time arrangement fit their schedule, sebab dorang ni human jugak nak balik jumpe anak bini lepas keje ... ;p

From my personal opinion, the main problem about weddings in KK is the wedding planner ... They're not competitive in providing the best service ... & of course, with a sky high cost ... Imagine if they can't even solve masalah tak cukup table on the reception eve ?? That's how bad the service are, really ...

I think I've already complaint about the full payment deposit in my previous post, it just made the clients less option for the wedding planner for their weddings ... Since you have to pay full amount, then you'll be left in no choice but to deal with the wedding planner since the deposit is too much to be neglected ... Unless, of course if you have thousands to spend on your wedding ... Then you won't have problem paying extra for every single details you requested ...

If you need any tips about the hall, just PM me ... I can't really give you advice on the best hall you can get in KK, because I just attended 2 hall weddings there - one in Dewan Wisma Pertanian, & one in Dewan SESB ... & I'm just not a fan of halls wedding, when it comes to KK ... Kalau kat KL, it's a different story ...

Buying Gold: Alamanda Putrajaya

I personally think Alamanda is quite a good place to buy gold ... Jgn  sebut Pasar Payang la, aku lempang berkali2 nanti ... Disebabkan I'm restricted to go any near to shoes & dresses, kerana kekangan limit kredit wang plastik itu ... Heh, so I developed a new hobby ... Sebab gian nak shopping jugak, so skarang aku shopping emas ... Good huh ??

Hahah, at least aku xbole swipe credit card dlm jumlah yg besar utk tujuan itu ... Or dgn kate lain, memang xbole swipe pun ... Hehehheheheh ... I really should left my cards wif my mum, or else I'm doomed ...

Ok, back to the topic ... Alamanda is a good place, to find gold ... Since ade 3 kedai emas dlm that mall, so 1. You have choice ... 2. They're competitive in price, 3. You have more power as a consumer ...

1. You have more choice


Of course, bile ade 3 kedai emas dlm tu ... You're tend to survey sumer kedai, baru decide nak beli kat mane kan ?? In my case, saye b'mule secare kecil2an je ... So, I'm more into the rings ... I really like Tomei's design, since it's more modern compared to Habib's conventional & more traditional design ... Tapi S.Wan Jewelries offers some interesting design jugak ...

But since Tomei bnyk outlet, so mostly it's about the same design dgn mane2 outlet pun ... I think the same goes for Habib, but it's a good thing that you have 3 shops to compare kan ... The only problem for is the size, normally design cantik2 tinggal size besar jek ... & Tomei's design look like susah nak resize je ...

I dunno la if the SA kat Tomei tu xbape nak promote kan, but I always read about good review pasal SA Habib yg always provide service excellent ... In my personal experience, they really provide a good service ... They can resize the ring within an hour - couple hours, beli before movie ... Sblm balik dah bole ambik, xpayah nak dtg balik the next day ...

SA kat S.Wan ?? Hahah, she tested the ring kat jari die ... Pastu decide sendiri whether it's small or big, or memang die xtau camane nak tgk the ring's size ?? God knows ... Heheh ...

2. Competitive in Price

My 1st ring, I bought dekat Tomei Mesra Mall ... Mase tu harge emas RM189 per gram ... Sebab tu jek 1 kedai emas yg aku slalu nampak kat sini, so memang beli kat situ jek la ... I paid full price accordingly per gram, & upah almost RM50 much2 simpler design from what I got in Habib ... Pastu kene kutuk dgn Yani - "mo dok reti beli emas mokcik, mu bole mintak kurang lagi" ... Heh ...

As for yesterday, S.Wan offers lowest price for emas 916 (RM182) ... Tomei RM 183, & Habib offers at normal price of RM189 with discount of RM5 for each gram ... I think you know what I mean ...

3. More Power as a Consumer

Sebab the price is slightly different, so you have choice either to have the design you adore the most or having something more likely for slightly cheaper price ... Kalau aku yg gedik lebey ni, mesti aku nak Habib jugak ... SA die best tu, alasan jek ... It's more to kepuasan tgk kotak Habib, instead of cheap looking plastic box from Tomei ... Heh ...

Sebenar nye semalam, I've already bought dekat Habib ... Then baru pegi S.Wan, & saw those yg bole tahan jugak la kat S.Wan ... Heheh ... Tapi seriyesly, SA kat S.Wan agak potong if you're really intended to buy ... I think, upah tukang tu negotiable ... Depends how much SA tu willing to cut from his commission la kan ... Tapi kalau nak test pun ko dah rase nyampah, confirm la you won't take the next step negotiating kan ... Unless you really like the design ke whatsoever, then kau akan tahan jugak walaupun SA tu annoying ...

Till then, selamat b'shopping ... Heheh, enjoy every single thing you do in your life ... But make sure you do things smartly, :D ...
